Educating the students of today to be the world citizens of tomorrow

The MYP Curriculum

The MYP curriculum is represented by the circle below.  The goal and mission of the programme is the development of the student to assume the qualiities of the learner profile. The way this is done is through the teaching and learning within the programme through eight subject groups and core elements such as the Personal Project, Action as Service and Approaches to Teaching and Learning.

Subject Groups:

All students must study at least one subject from each of the eight subject groups (with the exception of language acquisition which maybe dropped when two language and literature subjects are followed).

Where language and literature is not a possible route of study students need to follow a self-taught mother tongue. The ISG will support parents in this process.

The following subjects are offered at the ISG and the Maartenscollege within the Middle Years Programme.

Please note

  1. L&L refers to Langauge and Literature (formally language A)
  2. LA refres to Langauge Acquisition (formally language B)
  3. I&S refers to Individuals and Societies (formally Humanities)

Studnets may opt only for Econics and must then realise that they cannot obtain the full certificate. They will be awarded a school issued certificate of participation and a formal record of results in their other MYP subjects.

confirmed information regarding the upcoming TTO Havo will be available in the Spring of 2015

Curriculum content

Whilst there are specific subject objectives laid down by the IB MYP these are reasonably minimal and allow creativity from our teachers to ensure that the MYP meets the requirements of the student population. In the TTO this is of course the VWO level, and in the IS, the needs of the students to move onward to the DP or other forms of education.

Curriculum outlines are available for all parents and students via managebac (units)

All documentation related to the programme is maintained regularly but the school cannot be held responsible for errors, omissions or other discrepancies. For further information please contact your child's teacher, or the MYP coordinator
